We are having a relaxing day today reading in the garden...

Our biggest challenge will be where to get lunch. My post will end soon since I will be losing Internet access.

Tuscany

We are on top of a hill in Tuscany. The view is breath taking. We had dinner with all the guests last night. It was fabulous. This will be a quiet day.

Latin come alive...

Today we explored ancient Rome. Miss Parkus was with me in spirit. Only my sister, Betty, knows here. It was probably one of the few teachers we shared. It was an interesting day. Then we met the Oschners for happy hour.

Rome

Our time with Kathy, Maurice, Rosie and John was delightful as well as educational. We learned how champagne was made and bottled. We visited a small champagne vineyard and enjoyed the tasting in their home. The last night together we stayed at the B & B of an old friend of Maurice's. We ate dinner al fresco, outside. I felt like we were in the movie " Under the Tuscan Sun." the weather has been perfect. We walked the area around the Colleseum this morning. We are meeting the Oschners for cocktails later on the Spanish steps. Tomorrow it is off to the airport to meet the Browns and pick upa car to drive to Sienna. Bobby and I are still friends...

Champagne

We are in the champagne region of France staying at a B & B. I have learned alot about the process of making champagne. Today we are touring a small champagne making business. Rosie's friend John is knowledgeable about the process. It is beautiful country. There are rolling hills and fields of wine. Our greatest challenge is how to get more bottles of champagne into our already stuffed car. We are moving to the chablis region tomorrow.

On the move

We poised to gather our bags go to the Metro then to the train and then get in a car with our friends. We are off on the next part of our adventure. Stay tuned!

Last afternoon.

I guess the world wide web is not really world wide. I have no access to my email. I spent the morning at the Louvre. Bob is at the Dorsay this afternoon and I am going to wonder the streets. One of my favorite activities. I think it is the Anthropoligist in me that loves to observe other people's reality. Tomorrow it is on to part two.

Last day in Paris

Today is our last day in Paris. We have visited several museums. We have tried out several restaurants and had many laughs with Rosie and John. I have learned that Bob and I do not view a museum at the same pace. Now we plan for that! Yesterday I saw Rodin's "Thinker." I had that statue in my room growing up. I love the gargoyles on the buildings here. The happy ones are my favorite. Tell the trivia men that I did my retail research; i Went to the largest department store here in Paris. Holely Molely! One huge floor with only shoes etc, etc. They had a walkway two floors up between the two buildings the store occupied. Unlike MN it was open. Today it is back to the Louvre. We will probably stay close to home and try to make it an early night. Tomorrow starts the car traveling portion of our trip. I am looking forward to spending time with Maurice and Kathy.

Modern art...

Our adventure is off to a good start. The weather is perfect. We had a great dinner and stroll last night and then a sound night's sleep. We are at the Pompidou center. I love Modern art because it is so encouraging. Lots of time I look at it and think " I could do this!" my realization to day was that many modern artist focused on exploring techniques and materials like a scientist would. Fashion abounds here. Old women in leggings along with the young ones. Skirts with every hem line imaginable. We meet Rosie and John tonight for dinner - fun.
