When my studies are complete, I will share all that I have learned with you. In the meantime, start to notice your emotions and feelings. Be respectful and don't suppress this valuable source of understanding.
We are each on our own journey.

What might have been...

Lately, I've been pondering "what might have been." I am struggling with a project I feel I should have finished years ago. I have struggled with the overwhelming sense that I was meant to do this for decades now. But the project is not done and I am still struggling. Since I am older now, I have started to ask myself, "What am I to learn from this?" None of the pondering bring me peace, only remorse for not doing it. So to add to the remorse of not accomplishing this task, I have started the pondering of what might have been.

If I thought this line of thinking would motivate me, I was wrong. I am now not only depressed because this task seems to great, but I am mourning the lose of perceived missed opportunities. This line of thinking has come about from reading about quantum physics. My understanding of quantum physics is that there are alternate dimensions where the realities of different choices are played out. I want to move to a different movie theater. I want to see the results of what might have been. I realize that I am picturing the results as better but my voice of reason is saying it may not be true.

I know I need to stay present. My forgiveness mantra of "You did the best you could do." is probably appropriate. Shouldn't life be lived backwards? We start with the wisdom and truth that we have learned throughout our years and live an entire enlightened life. Okay, back to the present - the struggle.

What perspective can I adopt that will help me get through this project? I will ponder this today. Stay tuned...
We learned how champagne was made and bottled. We visited a small champagne vineyard and enjoyed the tasting in their home. The last night together we stayed at the B & B of an old friend of Maurice's. We ate dinner al fresco, outside. I felt like we were in the movie " Under the Tuscan Sun." the weather has been perfect. We walked the area around the Colleseum this morning. We have visited several museums. We have tried out several restaurants and had many laughs with Rosie and John. I have learned that Bob and I do not view a museum at the same pace. Now we plan for that! Yesterday I saw Rodin's "Thinker." I had that statue in my room growing up. I love the gargoyles on the buildings here. The happy ones are my favorite. Tell the trivia men that I did my retail research; i Went to the largest department store here in Paris. Holely Molely! One huge floor with only shoes etc, etc. They had a walkway two floors up between the two buildings the store occupied. Unlike MN it was open. Today it is back to the Louvre. We will probably stay close to home and try to make it an early night. Tomorrow starts the car traveling portion of our trip. I am looking forward to spending time with Maurice and Kathy.
We are each on our own journey.

Modern art...

Our adventure is off to a good start. The weather is perfect. We had a great dinner and stroll last night and then a sound night's sleep. We are at the Pompidou center. I love Modern art because it is so encouraging. Lots of time I look at it and think " I could do this!" my realization to day was that many modern artist focused on exploring techniques and materials like a scientist would. Fashion abounds here. Old women in leggings along with the young ones. Skirts with every hem line imaginable. We meet
Rosie and John tonight for dinner - fun.
We are each on our own journey.

The Weather and Perspective

It is a cold, rainy day outside my window. The river is crashing on the shore. It would be easy to have the perspective that the weather was ruining my day. But in truth it is enhancing it. I have lots to do so I am glad I am not tempted to be outside.

How are perspective and attitude different? I think I will ponder that today.

be aware
choose to choose
savor the moments of your life

We are each on our own journey.

The Results and The Lesson

I tried the "joyful cleaning" perspective. This is what I noticed. First, I took time to praise myself for a job well done. I acknowledged that the room looked better and I felt better. Second, I was amazed that so little did so much. I think this "discovered ease" was a result of the new perspective. If you see the work as easy. purposeful or fun, then your focus on that, not on the drudgery of the task. What you focus on grows and what you ignore diminishes. Perhaps that is the lesson.

This is why fear is best ignored. Focus on the fear and it grows. Even though the feared event has not happen and perhaps never will, your body reacts as if it is happening. So the body is stressed even though the situation is not real. Think about something that has great negative emotion for you. How does your body feel? Does it feel like it is happening all over again? This is real to your body. Stop going there or you will wear yourself out.

Today I play. Balance is good.

We are each on our own journey.

Perspective Practice

Today, I have decided to practice a change of perspective around cleaning. I have never found joy in cleaning. I know many do love it. That love was never instill in me. I have studied cleaning theory. Speed cleaning was the concept I embraced; have everything on your body and clean only what is dirty. I have my apron and my bucket, but alas no joy. The mind sends me devilish thoughts like "why do I have to clean when the men will just mess it up again." I was never successful in instilling the joy of clean in them either. Although my oldest man has transferred his joy in detailing cars into detailing his house.

Today, I have chosen to look at cleaning as a healing. Is it not healing a room of chaos and dirt? If I listened to music the vibrations would be good for the room's energy. The healing of the room could be transferred to the occupants of the room. Are you not more peaceful in a clean room?

The learning in this exercise is your perspective creates your reality. So if I perceive that cleaning is an act of healing, I will feel good about it. It will be joyful. I may try another approach if this one does not bring the expected joy. And I may try out other approaches but for today I will practice this one. I will let you know how it goes.

"Reality is your perception of the truth." Maryanne Williamson

I clean a room filled with joy.
No longer choas
But peace and love permeate.

We are each on our own journey.

Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained.

I have ventured into this unknown world of blogging as a value added feature for the classes I teach. Certainly it is not that I have all the answers. In truth, I only have questions. My questions are part of my search. Anyone can ask questions, but only you can answer your questions. My favorite author is Laura Day and my favorite teacher is Kathryn Harwig. Many have influenced me on my journey and more names will be added because I will continue to explore and grow.
